A 28-year-old male presents to the dental clinic complaining of a burning sensation in his mouth, particularly when eating spicy foods, which has progressively worsened over the past 2 years. He also reports a gradual reduction in his ability to open his mouth. He has a history of chewing gutkha (a mixture of areca nut, tobacco, and slaked lime) 5 to 6 times daily for the past 8 years. He denies alcohol consumption. He has no known drug allergies and no significant family history of systemic diseases.
